Wicked 5-String Flame Maple/Padauk Bass

The Wicked B5F is an original L.A. Kidwell design combining the "hippie sandwich" construction style with a semi-hollow body construction. This bass sports really beautiful local Flame Maple that has been hand carved with a Violin plane. The body core is Flame Maple with the binding layers being African Padauk. Note the raised control panel and the hand-turned matching wooden knobs. The neck is African Padauk with Maple laminations. The headstock is Flame Maple matched with the body. The fretboard is Pau Ferro, which provides reddish hues that go great with the Padauk. The rear electronics cavity access cover is cut from the surrounding body wood and is bound with contrasting Padauk. The entire instrument is colored with Amber Shellac to bring out its color.
