Wicked 4-String Purpleheart/Burl Bass
This Wicked B4P bass started out as an experiment with Purpleheart and it became one of our favorites. The reddish purple color just looks classic. The hand-carved body catches the light and really brings out the color. The thick Maple binding body layer makes the Purpleheart really stand out. You can bet that we'll be making more of these.
The Purpleheart seems to give this bass a little more brightness. You can really hear the semi-hollow body on this one. Of course, it doesn't hurt to have those big ole Bartolini soapbars and active electronics either.
The neck on this instrument was made from a solid piece of Flame Maple timber. The neck extends through the body, but just for show, we've added some Chestnut Burl on the top where it passes through the body. The headstock is topped off with the wildest part of the burl. And pay close attention to the control knobs. They are made of Purpleheart and matching Chestnut Burl. Even the outer concentric knob for the bass gain is made of figured Maple.
