The first time I encountered one of Lyndon’s instruments, I knew that I had to have one. In a sea of Strat, Telecaster and Les Paul clones that pose as “custom” instruments, Lyndon’s designs stand apart. Visually, the lines were elegant and stunning, the wood and finish were lustrous, and I could tell just by looking that this guitar had soul. When I picked it up, I was surprised by its perfect balance, because this model had a hollow body cavity. The care and detail that went into making the instrument was invisible, silently rewarded with the impression that this guitar had somehow just magically “come into being”.

The guitar was bright, responsive and alive when I played it, and surprisingly loud for an un-amplified electric. It was a joy to play, and after quite a while I realized that I still hadn’t even plugged it in yet! All that acoustic tone payed off through an amp, and the range of sounds and amount of articulation was incredible.

Before I got a chance to talk to Lyndon about building me something similar, but with some changes, I was afraid that I’d discover that he only builds certain models, or that a completely custom instrument would be prohibitively expensive. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out what a friendly and open person Lyndon is. He happily took the time to understand what I was after and became an instant collaborator, giving me an education in his craft in the process.

I can’t wait to play my new guitar!
